Masterclass Series (hosted on Zoom) – Students will have chance to perform for and get feedback from some of the world’s most preeminent pedagogues and soloists.
Guest Lecture Series (hosted on Zoom) – Get to know more about the career and lives of some of today’s most important soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians and pedagogues through live interviews followed by a Q and A with students.
3 private 1 hour lessons (hosted on FaceTime) – The core of our curriculum. These lessons involve intensive and detailed work on solo repertoire with our artist faculty.
1 Technique Class – A forum to discuss practice methods for developing a well rounded and solid technical foundation to support the students’ musical vision.
1 Score Study Sessions (for violinists only) – It’s difficult to have access to piano accompaniment during these times of social distancing. In VVSA Score Study Sessions, students will develop a heightened awareness of the harmonic and rhythmic structure as well as instrumentation in their concertos and sonatas through a one-on-one lesson with our esteemed piano faculty. Tailor made recordings of piano accompaniment to use for student’s practice will be made following each Score Study Session.
1 Career Lecture with Linda Petrikova, Vice President of IMG Artists – Students will have a unique chance to learn about the business of the music industry from one of the field’s leading artist managers, Linda Petrikova. Ms. Petrikova is the manager for such esteemed artists as the Emerson Quartet, pianist Evgeny Kissin, violinist Julia Fischer, soprano Renee Fleming and the Calidore String Quartet.
1 VVSA Fitness class – Physical and mental well being are paramount to achieving and sustaining the highest possible level of performance. Students will learn about exercise and stretching routines as well as nutrition plans to cultivate peak performance and endurance through a special lecture/demonstration with ultra-marathon and Ironman athlete and musician Caio Malufe.
1 Performance Class (hosted on FaceTime) – Every student will have a chance to perform at least one work studied during the Academy in front of their peers. Performance practice is a necessary component of developing confidence and relaxation on stage.
